I'm honored to wear the "Breacan Na'n Clerach" or the
"Tartan of the Clergy". The clergy of the highlands were known to wear
highland clothing and the tartan of the Clergy has a unique and very
proud story.
One of the highlights of the tartan is that; it's the only
tartan that was given to an occupation rather than a clan or
military regiment.
During the battles in Scotland, the clergy were considered one
of the innocents so, just like women and children, the clergy
were one of the untouchables. It was against the code to touch
or harm and innocent. |
